Who we are
This site is operated by Barker Scott Ltd (“Barker Scott”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16998208, registered office 2 Shakespeare Road, Colchester, Essex, CO3 4HH). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy question, contact info@barker-scott.co.uk.
What we collect
- Contact and order details - your name, email address, and the documents or subscription you buy, so we can fulfil and support your order.
- Payment information - card payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.
- Download credentials - we issue a secure token tied to your order so you can download your documents. We do not require you to create an account.
- Enquiries - anything you send us through our contact form, lead-magnet forms or by email.
- Usage and analytics data - if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects anonymised information about how you use the site (pages viewed, device, approximate location).
How we use your data and our lawful basis
- To take payment and deliver your documents or subscription - lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To send your download links and order-related emails - performance of a contract.
- To respond to enquiries and provide support - our legitimate interests in helping our customers.
- To keep records for accounting and tax - compliance with a legal obligation.
- To measure and improve the site using analytics - your consent (you can withdraw it at any time).
- To send marketing only where you have asked us to - your consent.
Cookies
We use two kinds of cookies and similar storage:
- Essential - needed for the site to work, such as remembering your shopping cart, the admin login session, and your cookie choice. These do not need consent.
- Analytics (Google Analytics 4) - only set if you click “Accept analytics” on our cookie banner. They help us understand how the site is used. If you choose “Essential only”, no analytics cookies are loaded.
You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which will bring the cookie banner back. You can also block cookies in your browser settings.
Who we share your data with
We use a small number of trusted providers (data processors) to run the service. We share only what they need:
- Stripe - payment processing.
- Supabase - secure database and document storage.
- Resend - sending your order and download emails.
- Google Analytics - website analytics (only with your consent).
- Vercel - website hosting.
We do not sell your personal data, and we never share it for third-party advertising.
International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
We keep order and transaction records for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet our legal obligations (tax and accounting records are typically kept for six years). Enquiry correspondence is kept for a reasonable period and then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to our processing;
- data portability; and
- withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these, email info@barker-scott.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, access controls and secure, token-based document delivery. No method of transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information at all times.
Children
Our service is intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
