The terms on which we sell our CQC compliance documents and subscriptions. Please read them before you buy.

Last reviewed: June 2026 · Barker Scott Ltd

The essentials
Our documents are professional templates licensed for use within your own organisation. They are a starting point, not legal advice, and we cannot guarantee a particular CQC outcome. You may edit and brand them for your own use, but you may not resell or share them. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

1. About us

This site is operated by Barker Scott Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16998208, registered office 2 Shakespeare Road, Colchester, Essex, CO3 4HH). You can contact us at info@barker-scott.co.uk or 07407 184948. By placing an order you agree to these terms.

2. What we sell

We sell downloadable document templates - policies, procedures, risk assessments and related packs - and optional subscriptions that provide updates to those documents. The documents are professionally written to support compliance with the Care Quality Commission’s standards, but they are templates that you must review, complete and adapt for your own service before use.

3. Licence and intellectual property

When you buy a document, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to:

  • use, edit and brand the document for use within your own organisation; and
  • keep and update your copy as part of your own compliance system.

You may not:

  • resell, sub-licence, distribute, share or publish the documents, in whole or in part;
  • make them available to anyone outside your organisation, including on a public or shared platform; or
  • present them as your own product for sale.

All intellectual property rights in the templates remain with Barker Scott Ltd. The licence ends if you breach these terms.

4. Nature of the documents - important

Templates, not legal advice
Our documents are general templates and information, not legal, clinical or regulatory advice, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Care Quality Commission. You are responsible for reviewing, completing and adapting each document for your service and for having a suitably qualified person approve it before use. We do not guarantee that using our documents will result in CQC registration, a particular rating, or any specific inspection outcome.

5. Orders, prices and payment

  • Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and are set by us at the point of sale. We reserve the right to correct obvious pricing errors.
  • Your order is accepted when we send your confirmation and download links by email.
  • Payment is taken securely through Stripe. We do not store your card details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; see our Refund Policy for how to cancel.

6. Delivery and access

Documents are delivered digitally. After purchase you receive secure, personal download links by email. These links are for your use only - please do not share them. If you have trouble accessing your documents, contact us and we will help.

7. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

Subject to that, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for how you implement, adapt or rely on the documents, for any regulatory outcome, or for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of business.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the site, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or use it for any unlawful purpose. The free tools and resources we provide are for general guidance only.

9. Changes

We may update our documents, products and these terms from time to time. The version of the terms in force is the one published here at the time of your order.

10. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
